Save the date for NAC 2027 and host your own parallel session

On 18 and 19 March 2027, the Dutch Earth and Environmental Sciences community will gather once again for NWO NAC 2027. Preparations are already underway, and we are excited to share the first updates!

NWO NAC is the annual conference for researchers across the Earth and Environmental Sciences in the Netherlands. It offers a unique opportunity to connect with colleagues, share research, discover the latest developments in the field and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

New at NWO NAC 2027: Host your own parallel session 

For the first time, NWO NAC offers researchers the opportunity to propose and host their own parallel session. Do you feel that a particular research topic deserves more attention within the Earth and Environmental Sciences community? This is your opportunity to bring researchers together around a theme that matters to you and actively contribute to the scientific programme. 

If your proposal is selected, you will chair and moderate the session yourself, introducing speakers, keeping presentations on time and facilitating the Q&A discussion. Each parallel session lasts one hour and consists of four presentations of 15 minutes. 

Through this new format, we hope to stimulate new collaborations, highlight emerging topics and create even more opportunities for the community to shape the conversations and scientific exchange that define NWO NAC. 

What should your proposal include? 

Your proposal should contain: 

  • A title for the session 
  • A short motivation 
  • A scientific description of the topic 

The programme committee will review all submissions and select the sessions that will become part of the NWO NAC 2027 programme. 

Why participate? 

Hosting a parallel session allows you to: 

  • Contribute directly to the scientific programme of NWO NAC; 
  • Give visibility to emerging research topics; 
  • Connect researchers working on similar challenges; 
  • Stimulate new collaborations and interdisciplinary exchange both within and between Earth and Environmental Sciences. 

Timeline (preliminary) 

Submission for parallel session proposals opens in early September and closes on 2 October 2026. Selected applicants will be informed about the outcome of the selection process by 26 October 2026. Confirmed dates will be published on this page as soon as they become available. 

Please note that this is a preliminary timeline. Exact dates will be announced in due course via the NWO NAC website and newsletter.
