Demonstrations
You can submit your abstract for a demonstration at NWO NAC 2027.
Why showcase your work at NWO NAC?
The demonstration area brings together researchers, innovators, industry professionals, and other stakeholders to exchange ideas and explore new solutions. It is an excellent opportunity to present your work to a diverse audience and foster lively discussions. Discover what last year's demonstrators had to say about their experience.
"Presenting a demo at NWO NAC 2026 was a fantastic way to engage with fellow researchers and showcase innovative educational and outreach activities. By combining hands-on experiments, interactive models, and virtual reality experiences, we sparked many inspiring conversations and built valuable new connections. The demo session offered a unique opportunity to share ideas, exchange experiences, and highlight the impact of Earth and Climate Science beyond the classroom.”
Demo: 'From Bedrock to Clouds: Low to high-tech outreach possibilities for Earth & Environmental Sciences' ( Anne Pluymakers & Joris Timmermans - TU Delft)
"Presenting a demo at NWO NAC 2026 gave us a unique opportunity to interact directly with conference participants while sharing our research in a more engaging way than a traditional poster. We attracted a lot of interest throughout the event, gathered valuable new data, and had many inspiring conversations. A demo offers the perfect combination of visibility, interaction, and real-time feedback, making it a highly rewarding experience for both researchers and attendees."
Demo: 'Gender diversity and Inclusion: Interactive insights following an observational study during the NAC 2025' (Manon Verberne, Tina Venema, Jana Cox and Lisanne Braat - TNO & Utrecht University)
Abstracts can only be submitted via the NWO NAC website before the deadline of 4 December 2027 (for oral presentations) and 3 February 2027 (for posters and demonstrations). Abstracts sent via e-mail will not be accepted.
In the abstract submission system you need to provide the following information:
- Preferred type of presentation: Oral, poster presentation or demonstration. It is not possible to give both an oral presentation and present a poster. You can, however, indicate whether you would be open to a poster presentation if we are unable to accommodate your oral presentation. It is possible to apply for a demonstration alongside either an oral presentation or a poster. Should you wish to do that, please send us an email to nac@nwo.nl.
Demonstrations:
- Title of the demonstration: The full title will be displayed in the book of abstracts in the app.
- Description of the demonstration: The abstract body should be no longer than 250 words. The text should be clear, concise, and written in English with correct spelling and a good sentence structure.
Mathematical symbols and equations can be included. There is no option to include images, graphs or pictures. - Abstract keywords: You have the possibility to add a maximum of 5 keywords to your abstract. Doing so can help the Programme Committee and conference visitors to easily identify the focus of your research.
- Preferred day of presentation: You can select a preferred day for your demonstration. If you are available to present it on any of the two conference days, please select “Both days”.
Make sure that all co-authors agree with you submitting this abstract.
Abstracts should be carefully compiled and thoroughly checked, in particular with regard to the list of authors, before submission in order to avoid last-minute changes.
Authors are allowed as first author to submit only a single abstract. Authors can be included as co-author on multiple abstracts. The submission of an abstract carries with it the obligation that it is actually presented at the meeting by the first author. If this is not possible, please withdraw your abstract as early as possible.
There is no abstract submission or processing fee required.
Submission of the same abstract by more than one author is not allowed. Duplicates identified by the Programme Committee will be rejected.
The content of abstracts is the responsibility of their authors. The Programme Committee of NWO NAC reserves the right to reject abstracts that are not written in English, are not related to the fields of Earth and Environmental Sciences or do not meet basic standards of scientific quality.
We encourage you to showcase your innovative research and technological advances through engaging and practical demonstrations. It is an excellent opportunity to present your work to a diverse audience and foster lively discussions. Due to space constraints, we can accommodate a limited number of demos. Demos will be selected by the Programme Committee and NWO after the submission deadline. Proposals can be submitted by researchers at all career stages.
If your proposal for a demonstration is selected, we will provide a demo booth for you in the exhibition area, to showcase your demo on both days:
- One white system wall,
- One white bridging table (1200 x 600 x 1100),
- Two white stools,
- Lighting (pendant spotlight),
- Electricity
- Optional: rent a TV for €305,-.
