Call for parallel session proposals now open for NWO NAC 2027

You now have the opportunity to submit a proposal for a parallel session at NWO NAC 2027. For the first time, the conference offers researchers the opportunity to shape part of the scientific programme by proposing and hosting their own session.

Do you believe an emerging topic, novel research direction or interdisciplinary challenge deserves more attention within the Earth and Environmental Sciences community? This is your chance to bring researchers together around a theme that matters to you and contribute directly to the programme of NWO NAC 2027.

Host your own parallel session 

If your proposal is selected, you will chair and moderate the session yourself. As session chair, you will introduce speakers, keep presentations on schedule and facilitate the discussion and Q&A.

Why are we introducing this? 

With this new format, NWO NAC aims to create more opportunities for the Earth and Environmental Sciences community to shape the scientific exchange that takes place during the conference. 

By introducing researcher-proposed sessions, we hope to: 

  • Highlight emerging scientific topics; 
  • Encourage interdisciplinary exchange; 
  • Foster new collaborations within and between Earth and Environmental Sciences; 
  • Give researchers a more active role in shaping the conference programme.

Interested in hosting a parallel session?  The Call for Parallel Sessions webpage provides full information about the application procedure, submission requirements, selection criteria and conditions for applicants. The NWO NAC Programme Committee will review all submissions and select the proposals that will become part of the conference programme. 

The deadline for submission is 2 October 2026. 

Timeline 

  • 2 October 2026 – Call for parallel session proposals closes 
  • 26 October 2026 – Applicants will be informed of the outcome 

We encourage researchers from across the Earth and Environmental Sciences community to submit their ideas and help shape the programme of NWO NAC 2027!
